Make sense of local tax language

SPLOST means a special purpose local option sales tax. E-SPLOST funds education capital purposes; TSPLOST is for transportation. A sales tax is different from a property tax or homestead exemption. Read each question’s rate, duration, spending limits, projects and any borrowing authority.

Approval thresholds and effects depend on the kind of question. Florida’s amendment rules do not apply to a Georgia ballot.
