How to vote

Vote absentee by mail

Absentee voting by mail requires a qualifying reason under Tennessee law. The election commission must receive your request by October 24. Return the completed ballot by mail so it reaches the commission before polls close on November 3. Hand delivery is not accepted. First-time voters who registered by mail or online should check the in-person identification requirements.

Registration and accessible voting

Register by October 5. Confirm your residential address, county and districts through GoVoteTN. A Tennessee registration does not establish which city or school district you vote in.

Contact the county elections office for accessible equipment, assistance or language services. Ask a poll worker for help if your name or ID cannot be verified.
